Sir Thomas Ingilby, Chairman of this week-long event has rounded about 60 teams of passionate cricketers from around the world. The primary sponsor of this event is Air New Zealand, who have also been main sponsors for all 13 tournaments in the past 25 years. The management at the tournament is superb and commendable.
Our team of passionate over 40’s cricketers from the TLJ has decided to take up the challenge by registering a team for the 2010 games. Participants have dusted their boots and in right earnest have started indoor net practice at the Qasra Sports, Etobicoke facility on Sunday afternoons.
During summer, (End May / Early June) the practice sessions will move outdoor to the Sunnybrook Park / Centennial Park. A total of 4 matches will be arranged in June – July 2010 for the team to build up spirit and sharpen cricketing skills.
The format for the weeks Cricket Festivities in Aug 2010 will be as follows:
- Day 1 – Opening Ceremony and Welcome Party
- Day 2 – 1st Day of Games
- Day 3 – Picnic Day
- Day 4 – 2nd Day of Games
- Day 5 – Free day to explore Harrowgate
- Day 6 – 3rd Day of Games
- Day 7 – Grand Finale Dinner and Air New Zealand Awards Ceremony
